Weekly Class Descriptions

  • Basic Yoga

    Basic Yoga offers simple and safe, step-by-step instruction into basic yoga postures, breathwork, and concentration techniques. Students are encouraged to work to their own abilities and limitations. Strengthening and stretching poses are offered.  Beginners and all levels are welcome. 

  • Traditional Yoga

    Traditional Yoga is often an intermediate-level practice and involves moving through Ashtanga/Short Form Ashtanga yoga postures.  These are known as ancient postures of standing, seated, balancing, stomach and reclined poses, holds, and binds intended to increase flexibility and concentration and release tension and stress. Suitable to beginners who wish to kick it up a notch and all levels.  

  • Slow Flow Yoga

    Slow Flow builds on the foundational postures learned in basic classes and introduces a flow that links postures, breath, and movement in a focused, flowing sequence of seated, standing, and balancing yoga postures.  This class is meant to challenge students to gain strength and flexibility, detoxify, find inner calm and an overall sense of well-being.  Suitable for beginners & all levels. *Heated Slow Flow heats the room to at least 82 degrees.

    Yoga Blend

    The perfect blend; This is a mixed level yoga class that teaches the foundations to a healthy practice; incorporates stretching and releasing tension from the body, as well as, strengthening the muscles and core in a seated, standing, prone, and reclined sequence of postures. This class includes balancing poses intended to solidify internal strength and awareness. Suitable for beginners and all levels.

    Basic Energy Yoga

    Basic Energy Yoga influences the physical, energetic, emotional, and mental bodies. Gentle yoga postures are instructed along with breath control and specific movements meant to cleanse and release stress, tension, and blockages and bring the practitioner into alignment with their natural healthy state of being.  Beginners and all levels are welcome.

    Energy Medicine Yoga

    Slow Burn Yoga A very deliberately slow class with longer-held yoga postures intended to strengthen and detoxify the body and mind. The stronger poses offered in this class work the muscles, core, and inner fortitude. Longer holds are also healthy to detoxify the mind because as the "mind stuff" comes up, students are able to witness it and practice non-reaction. This class works to nourish emotion regulation. Suitable for beginners and all levels.

    Candlelight Gentle Yoga

    Enjoy the soothing environment of candlelight in this class. Gentle Yoga focuses on stretching and releasing tension from the body and mind. The poses in this class are intended to wind you down from the day's dealings. These movements are slow and deliberate with some longer held poses meant for relaxation. Suitable for beginners and all levels.

    Candlelight Yin Yoga

    Enjoy the soothing environment of candlelight in this class. Yin Yoga is a type of very slow yoga which works to influence the nervous system and bring about a calming effect to the mind, as well. Yoga poses are held for two and a half to seven minutes in order to stretch through layers of stress and tension built in the deeper layers of the body. These long holds deeply release the connective tissue and fascia of the body. Suitable for beginners and all levels.

    Hot Vinyasa

    Burn off the stress and tension in this vigorous and strengthening class. Vinyasa is typically recommended for someone looking for a bit more intensity as it is a fairly strong physical class with an emphasis on matching breath with movement in a fluid sequence of yoga postures which focus on core strengthening and balance. The room will be heated to approximately 88 degrees for this class.

    Yin/Vin Flow Yoga

    The best of both worlds; Incorporates long held poses intended to release tension from the deeper layers of the body in the connective tissue/fascia. The longer holds promote flexibility and mobility and influence the nervous system, lowering the stress hormone, cortisol. Also instructed into a sequence of standing, seated, prone, balancing and reclined postures meant to strengthen the body and mind through yoga techniques and postures, this class is the perfect balance. Beginners & All Levels.

    Aerial Yoga

    Join Renee in an uplifting yoga practice that combines traditional yoga with the use of silk hammocks to help aid and support the poses. All levels welcome in this fun and yet challenging practice which combines the opportunity to work on core balance and full body work. There will be opportunity to hang and fly so proper attire is required for aerial yoga. Wear clothing that is snug and non flowing such as leggings and long sleeve form fitting shirts or tank tops.

    PWR! Moves

    PWR! stand for Parkinson Wellness Recovery. These are exercises based on big movements and function. They were developed by Dr. Becky Farley, who also developed the LSVT BIG protocol. The exercises were designed to target PD specific symptoms that are typically affected such as posture, flexibility, balance, and functional movement. We exercise in many different positions such as standing, sitting, on hands and knees, on your stomach, and on your back. We provide modifications for all positions.

    Line Dancing

    Sue is known for her motivational, energetic and personable teaching style. She believes that the most important part of line dancing isn't getting the steps down perfectly, but having fun. Her motto is "if you stumble, make it part of the dance". With 11 years of experience, Sue specializes in teaching beginners many different line dance genres as well as country swing, overtime, and Roundup. You will leave her class knowing a new dance and have a smile on your face.

    Tai Chi

    Tai Chi doesn't have to be complicated. Come learn some basic principles and exercises that will help you get centered, make your body an ally on your life's journey, and just have some plain old fun in a caring, judgment free environment. Suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

    Larry Hochman, M.S., C.A.G.S. is a long time counselor, educator, coach and trainer. He uses Tai Chi as a way to help people come back to their best selves, and take their bodies along for the ride!
