Infrared & Laser Therapy

red light therapy

Red light therapy (RLT) uses low levels of near-infrared light you can’t see but your body can feel as heat. Can improve energy levels, sleep, mood, skin clarity, decreased swelling of extremities, and mental clarity.

We have 3 different red light therapy services to choose from:

  • “Red Bed” Red Light Therapy

  • Laser Therapy

  • Infrared Sauna

* Red light therapy is not recommended for pregnant women or those with cancer or organ transplants.

“Red Bed” Red Light Therapy

Photobiomodulation (PBM) Therapy is the application of Red and Near InfraRed light in very specific colors, quantities, and at specific intervals to tissue that is sick, degenerating or has been injured. The absorption of this light and has been clinically proven to:
• increase cellular energy production
• increase circulation
• reduce inflammation

Our “Red Bed” is the state-of-the-art TheraLight 360. TheraLight 360 is a unique multi-wavelength LED system that combines 4 optimal therapeutic wavelengths to generate maximum results.

Laser Therapy

Aspen Laser Therapy is a safe and effective pain-free treatment to not only help reduce pain and inflammation but to treat their underlying causes. The primary mechanism of laser therapy is photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) which stimulate cell regeneration and enhance tissue repair. The Aspen Laser Therapy is very similar to our Theralight Red Bed. With use of the laser, we are able to target a specific treatment area about the size of the palm of your hand.

Infrared Sauna

Unlike a traditional sauna, an infrared sauna operates at a lower temperature and uses infrared panels instead of conventional heat to directly warm your body. It relieves sore muscles and joints by increasing blood circulation and can help with insomnia, weight loss, detoxification, and tighter and clearer skin.

    • increase cellular energy production

    • increase circulation

    • reduce inflammation

    These cellular mechanisms result in:

    • Improved muscle performance

    • Increased exercise times and capacity

    After exercise:

    • Reduced pain

    • Improved joint motion

    • Support immune function

    • Stimulate cellular repair

    • Enhanced wound healing

    • A release of certain brain compounds that positively affect mood and sleep

    • And much more

    Photobiomodulation is safe and relaxing.

  • How does PBM Therapy work? The effects are photochemical, just like photosynthesis in plants. When the correct parameters are used, light reduces oxidative stress and increases cellular energy (ATP). This in turn improves cell metabolism and reduces inflammation. PBM Therapy appears too good to be true as it has many applications, but really it does just one thing and it does it very well. It reduces oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is essentially an imbalance between the production of free radicals and the ability of the body to counteract or detoxify their harmful effects through neutralization by antioxidants, is critical in helping the body recover. Oxidative stress is accepted as the underlying trigger for most diseases and degenerative conditions. It is also a component in the inflammatory phase of acute and chronic injuries. Extensive research during last two decades has revealed oxidative stress can lead to chronic inflammation, which in turn contributes to chronic diseases including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders and pulmonary diseases.

What can PBM Therapy work for? Photobiomodulation therapy has been effectively used as a non-medical intervention for reducing recover time resulting in athletes running faster and longer with less fatigue, lifting heavier weights, achieving higher benchmarks sooner, recovering more quickly from injuries. As a non-medical intervention for musculoskeletal and inflammatory conditions such as: arthritis, muscle soreness, joint pain and stiffness, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, neuropathy, shingles, poor circulation, accelerating visceral fat loss.

Where does PBM Work? Many therapies only address symptoms, without addressing the source. PBMT works at the cellular level, stimulating repair and normalizing cell function. Unlike drugs and surgery, PBM Therapy safely and effectively promotes cell regeneration and reduces inflammation and pain. It is non-toxic, non-invasive and has no side effects.

What will I feel? PBM Therapy does not heat tissue, it does however increase circulation, so a warming sensation is often experienced. Reported subjective feedback includes temporary euphoric feeling, increased energy levels, improved sleep patterns, improved mood, improved skin clarity and tone, improved bowl function, decreased swelling of extremities, increased energy, increased mental clarity, increased general sense of well-being.

How many sessions are recommended? 1-3x/week. Acute injuries and inflammation from muscle sprains, bruises typically show very rapid improvement and can resolve in 1-2 weeks. Long-term chronic conditions can take 2-3 weeks to get significant benefits, weeks to months for maximum benefits then weekly or bi-weekly sessions to maintain benefits.

Do I need eye protection? All persons present during device operation must wear approved TheraLight 360 protective eyewear. Prescription contacts or glasses can be worn under the TheraLight 360 goggles.

  • How are treatments administered?

A handheld wand is positioned directly on, or slightly above, the skin over the affected area, where it delivers a gentle therapeutic beam.

How many treatments will I need?

Most acute conditions typically require only 5-6 treatments. Chronic conditions generally take longer and may require 6-12 treatments as well as one or two follow-up treatments each month.

How long will a treatment take?

Depending on the condition, treatment times typically last 5-10 minutes but larger body areas may require a little more time.

    What should I wear?

This will depend on where the treatment area is located. Treatments will require the skin in the treatment area to be exposed. Robes can be provided if necessary.

    Does the treatment hurt?

No. Most people experience a warm, often soothing sensation during treatment. There is increased sensitivity or warmth if we are treating over an area with a tattoo or the scalp.

How soon can I resume my normal activities?

After your treatment, you can resume your normal activity. However, it is important not to overexert for a few days as the body heals.

Is this like a regular steam sauna?

Nope! Invisible light heats the body, not the surrounding air, so it is more comfortable and allows you to enjoy a longer session than with traditional steam saunas.

    Is infrared sauna for anti-aging?

Yes. The infrared sauna can help reduce wrinkles.

    Is the infrared sauna safe?

Yes! Unlike sunbathing, exposure to infrared heat therapy is safe and won’t cause the skin to burn.

I’ve heard about electromagnetic fields (EMFs) -- is your infrared sauna safe from EMFs?

EMFs are like invisible energy emissions that come from any object that uses electricity. Most common electrical objects give off such low levels of EMF that they pose no risk to humans.

Though infrared saunas are large and powered by electricity, the technology used in our infrared sauna keeps EMF in an extremely low range of 0.2 to 0.3 mG. For context, the Environmental Protection Agency has previously proposed a safety standard of 3 mG, with anything below 3 mG being deemed as safe.

  • How long do you recommend for each infrared sauna session? We recommend working your way up to 30 minutes. Your sweating and detoxification will continue after you get out of the sauna for about 30 - 60 minutes after the session, so it is not recommended that you shower right afterwards as it will shorten the benefits of the detoxification process.

What do I wear in the sauna?

You can wear a bathing suit or a towel. You will be in a private room alone.

How should I prepare for my infrared sauna experience?

Obviously with all the sweating, you want to make sure to rehydrate! Please come to each session well-hydrated, not hungover or after drinking alcohol.

    Is it clean?

Yes! Our sauna is sanitized after each use. Infrared light kills all bacteria and any airborne germs.

Can children use the infrared sauna?

Children must be over 16 yrs old, accompanied by a parent and must have a doctor’s permission. Children who are prepubescent are not able to thermoregulate (regulate their body temperature through proper sweat productions) as well as adults.
